Crime Mapping

In November 2013, the Ramsey Police Department began a crime mapping and crime analysis project. Using technology by LexisNexis, some crime data is made public using their mapping program, available free on the Internet and via mobile apps for iPhone and iPad.

The Ramsey Police Department is currently mapping the following crime categories for the public:

  • Assaults
  • Burglaries
  • City Ordinance Complaints (All - other Non-Criminal)
  • Damage to Property (Vandalism)
  • Homicides
  • Robberies
  • Thefts
  • Vehicle Thefts

Ramsey citizens can view a map with crimes in their area. LexisNexis Community Crime Map automatically syncs with the Ramsey Police Department’s records system to keep crime information updated online and in the mobile app. LexisNexis Community Crime Map cleans and geocodes the crime data, then displays all of the incidents on a map, grid and analytics dashboard along with some basic information about the incidents, including the type of crime, location type, block-level address, date and time.
