2024 Neighborhood Pavement Overlay Improvements IP24-07
October 4, 2023
City of Ramsey Staff has observed an increase in the pavement striping in the top bituminous course of Bowers Drive between 148th Ave. and the south cul-de-sac. Bowers Drive was in the 2023 Crack Seal Improvements project to receive crack seal, though due to the amount of striping and patching needed has been removed.
Considering this observation, City of Ramsey Staff has added Bowers Drive from the southern cul-de-sac to 148th Ave. to the 2024 Neighborhood Pavement Overlay Improvements project. Moving Bowers Drive into this project will help maintain and keep the serviceable life of the pavement.
The City of Ramsey received one quote from Braun Intertec for the amount of $3730.00 to perform the pavement evaluation and taking the 11 pavement cores. Braun Intertec has completed this task as of August 2, 2023. This now allows time for City Staff to review and evaluate Bowers Drive; as part of the 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Program.

On November 14, 2023, the Ramsey City Council awarded a proposal from Bolton & Menk, Inc. to complete a topographic survey of pedestrian ramps. The following neighborhoods will see surveyors in the area: Alpine Acres, Orchard Hills, Seasons of Ramsey and Town Center Gardens pedestrian ramps being surveyed are on public sidewalk.
The topographic survey will be taken within City-owned right of way, and will include survey of the street, curb and gutter, and other site features adjacent to the pedestrian ramps as needed. You can expect to see a crew of 2-3 surveyors, and a pick-up truck. This work is scheduled to occur in late November / early December.
Part of the topographic survey includes surveying existing utilities, both municipal and private, such as cable, gas, and electric lines. Bolton & Menk will be calling in a Gopher One State locate call for utilities in the area, so you will likely see paint and flag markings within the project area.
As part of the pavement overlay improvements, the City updates public street pedestrian ramps to current American with Disability Act standards. This topographic survey work is preliminary, City Council has not yet approved plans and specifications for this project.
