City of Ramsey - A Heart-Safe Community

DON'T WAIT FOR THE HELP, BE THE HELP!!!!!

Welcome to Heart Safe-Ramsey. This is a program that is designed to teach the community Bystander CPR and how to use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). Our mission is to increase survival rates of SCA (sudden cardiac arrest) by educating the public in quality CPR and proper use of an AED. We also want to help ensure proper coverage of public access defibrillators in our city.

  • Championed by a Sudden Cardiac Arrest survivor along with Ramsey Police/Fire and the City Council.
  • Heart Safe programs are supported by Allina, Medtronic and the American Heart Association.
  • Free Bystander CPR and AED classes to ALL Ramsey businesses and residents.
  • We are here to create a healthier and safer community.
  • International award winning video (ECCU-2014) in which the grand prize was an AED to donate to a local business.

SCA FACTS
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) affects over 1,000 people a day, that's 400,000 a year!

The national average of SCA survivors is 5% mainly because bystanders are afraid to act or
don't know what to do.

In Coon Rapids, MN the survival rate is approximately 22% due to the Heart Safe program there, which has already saved lives.

If Bystander CPR is given to a victim of a SCA within the first 2 minutes, the chance of survival increases to 85%!
