Environmental Expo & Tree Sale
|
Each spring, in recognition of
Earth Day and Arbor Day, the City of Ramsey sponsors an
Environmental Expo & Tree Sale. The 2010 event will be held
at the Municipal Center (7550 Sunwood Dr NW) on Saturday,
May 1, from 9am to 2pm. There are a number of exhibitors
and displays focusing on a wide range of environmental
topics. Past exhibitors have included the U of MN Raptor
Center, the Herpetological Society of MN, Anoka Conservation
District, the Oliver Kelly Farm, Connexus Energy, ACE Solid
Waste, and many more. If you, or your ‘green’ organization,
are interested in participating in this event, please fill
out the
reservation form and return it to Chris Anderson
in the Community Development department.
The Environmental Expo also
includes various presentations that focus on certain aspects
of the environment. There is no cost to attend these
educational presentations and at the end of each
presentation attendees have a chance of winning a tree!
Presentations will be ongoing throughout the event so make
sure to stop by the Council Chambers to listen in.
Local nurseries are on hand with
an array of trees, shrubs, and perennials available for
purchase at great prices! Residents also have an
opportunity to ‘pre-order’ select varieties of bareroot and
potted trees and shrubs at reduced prices, thanks to a
partnership with Green Valley Greenhouse, Hostas and More,
and Maple Leaf Landscaping. For pricing, available species,
and order form, please click

Ramsey's "Night to Unite" is Tuesday, August
3, 2010!
Formerly known as National Night Out, the new "Night to
Unite" will continue to be held on the first Tuesday in August
and it is a great way to get your neighbors together and give
criminals a going away party!
Planning a celebration event in your neighborhood can be as simple as
turning on the outside lights of your house, locking your door and
inviting your neighbors
over to your front yard. In some neighborhoods, these celebrations have
evolved into block parties, cook outs, potlucks, kiddie carnivals and
bike/tractor parades. For more information or for registration
