Zumba is a dance group-fitness class that is fun,  energetic, and effective. You will dance to great music while having fun and doing something good for your health. This class features interval aerobic training and exercises to sculpt and tone your body as you dance.

Yoga Flow with Barbara Sandarin, RYT
Wednesday, August 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30, 2017 / 12:05 - 12:50 pm

Yoga Flow is restorative, challenging, invigorating, and fun!  It’s Barbara’s goal to introduce yoga in a safe, non-competitive, judgment-free way.  Yoga is for EVERY BODY! Barbara will guide a Vinyasa style of yoga that focuses on breath and movement.  All levels welcome, as modifications will be offered.

Hatha Yoga, or the yoga of activity and balance, focuses on individual poses, alignment, and breath through longer holds in each posture. You will build strength and stability from within. Unlike Vinyasa-style yoga, there is minimal flow through transitions. All levels are welcome, as modifications will be offered.

Thursday, August 3, 10, 17 & 24, 2017 / Session 1: 9:00 – 11:00 am, Session 2: 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

The best place to learn about the environment is the natural environment. When this place-based education is implemented, students and community members can benefit from partnerships. Children entering grades k-5 will participate in age-appropriate activities that utilize nearby nature to teach about the environment. They will also create a fun craft or project centered on the week’s theme.  Finally, children will participate in an active game, play, and enjoy the outdoors.

Performing in the Park: Vocal Workshop

An interactive vocal seminar for students in grades 6-12 to explore an array of singing styles. The workshop will focus on technique for the solo singer and elements of group singing.

Draw Art in the Park - Summer 2017

Visit Emily Parent, Registered Dietitian, at the Farmers Market to learn about the ease of preparing healthy foods.  She will teach you about the “produce of the week” and how to use it in a healthy meal. From salads to smoothies, you will get to try something new using fresh produce from the farmers market.

Shark Secrets

Aquatic MVPs Program: Shark Secrets
Tuesday, August 15, 2017 / 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Learn all about sharks at Sunfish Lake! In the Shark Secrets workshop, children in grades 3 – 5 will look into a shark’s jaw and learn about their teeth, feeding habits, and why sharks are a top predator. Participants will also learn how sharks balance the ocean’s ecosystem through stories and a hunt for shark’s teeth.

Walking is a fun and social way to accomplish your daily exercise goal. And all you have to do is lace up a good pair of sneakers—and walk!

Pickleball

Introduction to Pickleball
Saturday, August 19, 2017 / 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The class will be led by Luke Jesso, a USA Pickleball Association Ambassador for the northwest metro. You will learn the strokes, positioning, rules, and scoring. After you get a taste of the sport, stay and watch the Northwest Metro Pickleball Team practice.

Water Sleuths Program: Fish Prints

Join the Aquatic Research and Conservation Society for an afternoon of learning and fun at Sunfish Lake Park. In the Fish Prints workshop, children in grades K – 2 will channel their artistic skills by learning all about fish while creating fish prints.

Paddle Boarding

Basics of Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand up paddle boarding is easy, fun, and a great workout! Similar to a surf board, but you will have greater stability and control with the wider raft and aid of a paddle. Participants must be at least 15 years of age. Class limited to first 7 registrants.

Wisconsin Three Day Get-Away!

Once you learn the basics, you will go outside to see the constellations and hear some great stories. You will even get to use some of the largest telescope in Minnesota.
