The City of Ramsey Parks Department works with various organizations to host and promote park and recreation programs open to the public. A list of our events can be found below.
Current and Upcoming Recreation Programs
WINTER CELEBRATION
Saturday, February 11, 12:00-4:00 pm | No Registration is Required
Central Park | 7925 161st Ave NW | Ramsey, MN
Come and have some fun outside. Some of the FREE activities include ice skating (bring our own), sledding* (bring your own), a snow maze*, a scavenger and medallion hunt, snow art and more.
Hot cocoa will be served courtesy of the Ramsey Lions.
A Clay Bird in a Nest clay sculpture project is scheduled from 10 am-Noon. $35 a person, includes all material in cooperation with RumRiver Art Center. Pre-registration is required and can be found under the Art tab.
You can try out snowshoeing. Snowshoes are provided. The cost is $5 per person, and children under 12 accompanied by an adult are free. Pre-registration is required and can be found under the Fitness tab.
* Sledding and snow maze are weather-dependent activities.

QIGONG MEDITATION FOR HEALTH

Qigong (chee gong) is a holistic system of exercise that aims to strengthen, stretch, balance and coordinate the body. On more subtle levels, it ingratiates the mind, body, emotions and spirit. The movements are slow, coordinated and rhythmic, synchronizing breath, movement and focus. It is deceptively simple yet can be profoundly healing. Instructor Peggy Brown, a Spring Forest Qigong Certified Practice Group Leader, leads this practice group and is also a Reiki Master Practitioner and has been working with energy since 2008.

LINE DANCING
January 10, 24; February 7, 21, 6:00-7:30 pm | Registration is required

Join us for a fun night of line dancing! Something different is taught every week, so it is okay if you miss a class or two. Partners are not required for line dancing. Karen Ann Stark instructs this class. She has over 15 years of experience teaching dance. She is the former developer and choreographer of the Bootscooters Dance Team. To prepare for class, bring a water bottle and wear a comfortable outfit to dance in.
Beginner class 6:00-6:30 pm
Advanced beginner class 6:30-7:30 pm.
The fee for this class is $5 per session.

GENTLE MOVEMENT YOGA

Take a break during the day by joining Jennifer in an hour-long gentle movement-style yoga class.
Body copy This class will focus on connecting to our breath through mindful movement. All experience levels are welcome and encouraged to participate in this series.
- Bring a yoga mat, water, and a small towel
- Wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to practice barefoot
The fee for this series is $25. The first class date of the series is free for those who want to try it out before registering and paying. You must register by the second class date to continue.

WINTER WALKING SERIES
Monday, February 13, March 13, 5:30-6:30 pm | Registration is Required
Join us on the second Monday of February and March to walk the trails in Ramsey parks. Walking is a great way to spend time outdoors, improve your fitness and well-being, and meet other people. We will walk for close to an hour and participants can take breaks whenever needed. All abilities and fitness levels are welcome!
There is no cost for this program. The schedule of parks we will meet at will be on your registration confirmation receipt. It will also be sent via email.

Experience “floating” on snow with snowshoes! Snowshoeing is an easy-to-learn activity for all ages and is a great way to exercise while exploring the winter beauty of Ramsey. Join us for whichever sessions fit your schedule. Snowshoes are provided.
The fee is $5 a person per session. Children 12 and under are free.

WINTER CARDINAL WATERCOLOR PAINTING
Tuesday, January 17, 5:30-7:30 pm | Registration is Required
Elmcrest Park | 16303 Quicksilver Street NW, Ramsey, MN
Watercolor is delightful, fresh, exciting, messy, delicate, and tender. This class is well suited to any individual who wants to try out painting for the first time or individuals who wish to expand their knowledge of watercolor painting.
Space is limited to 15 participants. The cost is $20 a person and includes all the materials needed to create your watercolor painting.

CLAY BIRD IN A NEST
February 11, 10:00 am-Noon | Registration is Required

Join us for a hands-on clay project!
Students will create their favorite bird out of clay and a nest for the birds to sit upon. This is a fun project where kids will learn to sculpt the clay, create fun texture and finish it by painting their creation with colored under-glaze. These art pieces will then be fired at RumRiver Art Center and returned to Parks & Recreation to pick up within three weeks.
Space is limited to 15 participants. The cost is $35 a person and includes all the materials needed to create your project. This class is suitable for anyone age eight or older, and children ages 5-7 can participate with the assistance of an adult.

VALENTINE ACRYLIC PAINTING

The Kitchen Table | 7533 Sunwood Drive NW | Ramsey, MN
Grab your partner for a unique Valentine’s Date!
Join us at Kitchen Table, where you will be guided to create a beautiful acrylic painting. This painting project will be done so that you and your partner can hang your creations together to form one large image. Each painting would also look fabulous when hung on its own. This community class is open to beginners and those who have painting experience. You will be given step-by-step directions to create your beautiful art piece. Everyone will start at the same point and each canvas will be very different.
Space is limited to 6 pairs. The cost is $50 per pair and includes all the materials needed. Participants must be 21+ for this event.
