About the Division
The Planning Division's function is to prepare and implement the City's Comprehensive Plan (the City's land use guide). The tools used to implement the Comprehensive Plan are commonly referred to as the zoning regulations and they can be found in their entirety in Chapter 117 (Zoning and Subdivision of Land) of the City Code. The Planning Division also includes certain natural resource planning functions as well. Visit the Natural Resources page to learn more.

Future Plans and Studies
The Comprehensive Plan is the City's plan for future land uses.The Plan includes assumptions on physical development throughout the community and is a vision for how the City will evolve over the next twenty years.

Planning Commission
The primary objective of the Planning Commission is to advise the City Council on land use concerns. In addition, the Planning Commission shall serve as the planning agency and shall have the powers and duties given such agencies by state statute.
